  1. 4 out of 5

    Ian Stirk

This book provides a useful review of the current state of the factors that should allow you to lead a ‘better’ life.Topics covered include: how not to worry, how to be happy, confidence, finding love, becoming smarter, sleep better, have how to get ahead in life. The book is written in a similar vain to “This book could save your life”, indeed both authors work for New Scientist. While the former book focuses on physical health and longevity, this book focuses on mental health and having a better life. The author maintains your attention with informative, lively, and interesting prose – making it an easy read. Various scientific studies are described to support the assertions made. Each chapter ends with a very useful summary that describes the key content of the chapter.Personally, I found the book too verbose (I prefer checklists and key points), additionally, there were too many “I….” (I prefer a wider context). Both these negatives are probably a plus for a wider audience, so the fault may lie with me…Overall, an interesting and fun read. Leer más
